Sources related to Congress say that many Congress leaders of Jabalpur have very insistently sent the news from Bhopal to Delhi that they will not be able to contest the elections. Congress is contesting elections on 28 seats in Madhya Pradesh. Congress has given one seat of Khajuraho to the Samajwadi Party, an ally of the Indian alliance. Congress has announced the names of candidates for ten seats. There is still a tussle going on for the remaining 18 seats.
Congress sources say that the central leadership has asked the PCC to send a list of single names for the remaining 18 seats, but the confusion is increasing due to the refusal of the second generation leaders along with the veterans.

The names of former city Congress president Dinesh Yadav, Saurabh Sharma, Satyendra Yadav and Anju Singh Baghel are also in discussion. However, there are some names who are ready to take the ticket but they have also put some conditions before the party. His conditions are under consideration in the party. Earlier there was news that two names had come in the panel, but later new names came and now nothing is being said clearly.
Meanwhile, Congress leader Satyendra Yadav said while talking to ABP Live that he is ready to contest the elections if the party gives him the ticket. Not only this, he will win the elections and will also end Congress’s 28-year drought from Jabalpur seat. He is not one to leave the field.
Fear of defeat or some other reason
Senior journalist Ravindra Dubey says that there is victory and defeat in elections. It is not that Congressmen are avoiding the ticket just because of the fear of defeat. In fact, Congress leaders know very well that if they get the ticket, they will have to fight the entire election alone.
Firstly, the party does not have an organizational structure and secondly, even the leaders do not come together at the last moment. This is not just one, it has been seen and heard with proof in many elections. Apart from this, the leaders are saying that crores of rupees will be spent in their pockets. This is the reason why there is no fight over ticket this time in Congress.
History of Jabalpur seat
From the first general election till 1974, Congress was dominating the Jabalpur Lok Sabha seat. Seth Govind Das was elected from here 5 times. In the by-elections held after the death of Seth Govind Das in 1974, Sharad Yadav, as the pupil candidate of the opposition, defeated the Congress by contesting on the Lok Dal ticket.
After this, in 1977, Sharad Yadav became MP from Jabalpur seat for the second time. In the year 1982, lotus flower bloomed for the first time in Jabalpur and Baburao Paranjape became the first MP of BJP. Just two years later, in 1984, Congress captured the seat again.
When Colonel Ajay Narayan Mushran defeated Baburao Paranjpe in the general elections, this seat again came to BJP’s account in the 1989 elections. In the 1991 elections, Congress again captured this seat. After this, Jabalpur Lok Sabha seat has become the stronghold of BJP since 1996.
At present, strongmen like Rajya Sabha member Vivek Tankha also lost the election from here twice on Congress ticket. BJP leader Baburao Paranjape became MP thrice, Jayshree Banerjee once and Rakesh Singh four times from Jabalpur seat.
